Pedro Martinez, Hall of Famers appear on ‘Letterman’

New Baseball Hall of Famers Pedro Martinez, Randy Johnson, John Smoltz, and Craig Biggio presented the Top 10 segment on “Late Show with David Letterman” Wednesday night. The theme was their top 10 reactions to being elected to the Hall of Fame.

Martinez spoke first, saying, “Maybe I should make baseball my career.”

Martinez, who spent seven seasons with the Red Sox, received 91.1 percent of the 549 votes cast by the Writers’ Association of America, well above the 75 percent required for induction. He joined Ted Williams (1966), Carl Yastrzemski (1989), and Wade Boggs (2005) as the only first-ballot Hall of Famers affiliated with the Red Sox.

The Class of 2015 will be inducted at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y., on July 26.
